
The purpose of this website is to teach an absolute beginner the basics of cooking. But
experienced cooks can also enjoy the recipes listed here because they can better visualize the
cooking process. Often, a recipe sounds more difficult than it actually is, therefore visual
presentations are always helpful.
The emphasis we focus on here is toward inexpensive meals that are quick and easy to make.
Although, some recipes sounded so delicious, we had to make them, even though they took a bit of
effort. But those are few. Most recipes in this website can be easily done by a beginner.
Cooking your own meal means several things:
- It is cheaper than eating out
- You always know what your ingredients are
- You can always adjust the dish to your taste
- You can make healthy choices (since healthy eating is a big concern these days)
- You can control your weight a lot easier
- You can have fun!
Cooking our own meals has been a key ingredient in keeping our lives healthy. We can control our
weight, feel good and be energetic; we have not had any health problem in the last 20 years. A
balanced diet of vegetables, fresh vegetable juices, and healthy home-cooked meals have
contributed to overall physical well-being, as well as keeping the grocery bill lower.
NOTE:
We try to make all photos without showing hands or unnecessary objects in them. This is done for
better clarity. Simply hold your food with your hand when cutting, slicing, chopping, mixing, etc.
Also, the flour used in recipes is all-purpose, unless otherwise stated. Similarly, all sugar is regular
granulated white sugar (we often use organic, so it is a bit darker in color), butter is unsalted,
ground pepper is always black.
We have been cooking since age 5, beginning at the side of our mother and grandmother. Later,
we learned to prepare more complex dishes with the help of cookbooks. Unfortunately, most
cookbooks back then lacked photos or had very few of them. Nowadays, more and more cookbooks
add photos to their recipes to give a visual presentation for the cooks. We have reviewed many
cookbooks over the past years and adapted most of our recipes from them.
