INGREDIENTS:
6 Granny Smith Apples
1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/3 cup butter or margarine
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
You will need Hand Crank
Apple/Potato Peeler. You may
as well peel, core and slice
apples with knife.
You will also need a 3 Qt
baking dish, 13x9x2 inches
Attach hand crank apple peeler to
board or table.
Slide apple completely onto
corer.
Turn handle to peel apple. It
will also core and slice apple at
the same time. Discard peels.
Pull sliced apple off core.
Pull core off the corer. Repeat
the same steps with remaining
apples.
Cut slices in half.
Cut halves in half again.
Place quartered apple slices
into ungreased baking dish.
Pour lemon juice over apples.
Put brown sugar, oats and flour
into mixing bowl.
Add cinnamon.
Add salt.
Mix all ingredients until
well-blended.
Cut 1/3 cup butter (about 2/3 of
butter stick) into several
chunks. Follow measurement
directions on wrapping.
Pour melted butter into bowl with
oat mixture.
Using wooden spoon, mix oats
and butter until well-blended.
Sprinkle oat mixture evenly over
apples in baking dish.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 30
minutes or until apples are
tender and oats are crisp and
dark-brown.
Serve warm, topping apple crisp
with vanilla ice cream.
Place butter chunks into small
sauce pan. Melt butter over
medium heat. Turn heat off when
butter is almost melted. The rest
of butter chunks will melt in hot
melted butter. Be careful not to
bring butter to boil. Take sauce
pan with butter off the burner
and let cool for several minutes.
An all-time favorite, it's a great dessert
for any occasion.
