INGREDIENTS:

4 white bread slices, day-old
3 tablespoons butter
1 head Romaine lettuce
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese


Optional: 1/2 cup of your
favorite Caesar dressing

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.


Make croutons:
Cut bread slices into several
strips, lengthwise.



Cut bread slices into several
strips, crosswise.




































Put butter onto baking sheet.
Place baking sheet into hot oven
for 1 minute to melt butter.




































Tilt baking sheet to spread
butter evenly all over the sheet.





































Lay bread cubes in single layer
on baking sheet.

















Bake in preheated oven at 400
degrees F for 3 to 4 minutes, or
until slightly golden on bottoms.
Stir with spatula and return
baking dish back to oven.















Bake another 3 to 4 minutes, or
until desired crispness.

















Cut lettuce.

Place lettuce in large bowl.



















Add half of croutons.


















Sprinkle with half of Parmesan
cheese.


















Toss gently and put salad into
serving bowls.






Top with remaining croutons and
cheese. Serve immediately with
your favorite dressing.
This all-time favorite salad requires minimum
efforts. For a change, sprinkle the croutons with
garlic powder before baking.
