INGREDIENTS:

1/2 pound frozen calamari rings,
defrosted and patted dry
salt, if desired
1 cup all-purpose white flour
1 cup vegetable oil for
deep-frying

DIRECTIONS:

Heat oil in large skillet over
medium-high heat. Reduce heat
to medium-low.

Meanwhile, place flour into small
shallow bowl. Sprinkle calamari
rings with salt, if desired. Place
one or two calamari rings into
flour.

Flip over to coat with flour
completely.

Lift with for or your fingers and
shake excess flour off gently.

Place floured calamari rings into
hot oil.

Deep-fry over medium-low heat
for 2 to 3 minutes or until slightly
golden. Flip over with fork. Fry
for another 2 minutes, or until
golden.

Place paper towel onto large
plate. Remove calamari rings
from oil, using fork. Place them
onto paper towel to remove
excess oil.

Serve hot as a snack or with
salad greens.
