Hamburger Patties  
Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef
1 large onion
1 egg
4 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp salt (or to taste)
1/2 tsp ground black pepper

Using a sharp knife, slice onion in
half, lengthwise, all the way
through the root.
Take brown skin off and discard.
Place halves cut side down on
cutting board. Cut a small part off
the top of each half.
Slice through the onion
horizontally, almost to the root end.
Slice onion down several times,
lengthwise. Keep the root intact.
Cut onion crosswise at even
intervals. Hold the root end with
your hand in the process.
Place meat, onions, egg, salt and
pepper into a large mixing bowl.
Mix until well-blended.
Take about one heaped
tablespoon of meat mixture and
form a ball with your hands.
Flatten the ball into a patty.
Pour oil into large skillet.
Place meat patties into skillet
and fry for about 6-7 minutes
over medium heat, until
golden-brown.
Flip patties over with spatula and
fry for another 4-5 minutes or until
golden-brown.
Serve hot.
